Experts in child development often say that parents are the first educators. And, if parents choose to educate their children or traditionally devote a significant of their time, effort and resources to homeschool their children, the simple truth is that parents can, should, and not begin to educate their children long before introducing any type of formal education.
Many parents, especially new and homeschooling parents hesitated to "push" a child to read, before being "ready". However, reading is only a visual representation of the spoken word. And, just as we teach our children to speak and the words appropriate for objects and people, we can start early to teach our children how the letters (eg, symbols) represent some sounds, and when these letter symbols are grouped form words. This natural process of education is less "push" than it is the acquisition of language simple. Some educators and experts refer this process as pre-reading.
Pre-reading Reading Leads to Success
Pre-reading activities begin early and most parents do not make even aware that they are preparing their children to bed. Parents could sing the alphabet song to help a wayward child to sleep. Bedroom of a child or Games may be decorated with a border ABC. Vibrant letter magnets adorn the refrigerator that would enable parents and children to form words. These (apparently) Unusual activities are what prepare children for learning to read.
Pre-reading is everything to expose the child to both spoken and written language. Parents can set up their children for success without pushing ensuring that they have the most exposure to these activities. Technology has also given the children a new opportunity for the Early Learning of syllabic calls. Syllabic, which focuses on all the sounds associated with letters or phonetics, which deals mainly with the sounds associated with with consonants, can be easily learned with readily available computer software for preschoolers.
Pre-reading, games and conversation
Even before children learn to speak, of course, the parents there to verbal communication. How many times have we seen all the parents who talk to their children while they dressing? That the mother might say something like "Here's your lovely pink dress!" or "Do you want to wear the red shirt or the green?" Parents who often speak with their children long before the children can keep their own end of the conversation are, almost by stealth, to teach their children pre-reading.
Another way First, children learn reading skills through exposure to those soon recognized logbooks player. These books, made from thick cardboard and easier for less-than-nimble fingers to manipulate are simple, colorful pictures and brief, the basic words. Help pre-readers learn to associate words with objects and people in a differently than when they take the learning of an object in their hands, while mom or dad told them what the object was or when they started to learn that people had the names and titles.
Measuring Success Pre-reading
The success of validity 'of a parent-reading instructions can be measured. In general, children who have had a lot of pre-reading, the exposure of activities begin to talk earlier than children who do not. Believe that research indicates that parents who talk to their children, often seem to have the children begin to speak at an early age. Parents who restrict the amount of them talk to their very young children might notice that those children are "late" talkers.
Children learn quickly and, of course, given the chance. And, although parents may be reluctant to push their children into education, but must also understand that it is their responsibility to give their children the tools they need to develop their pre-reading. Providing children with fun and interesting ways to develop language skills is very different from that which requires a minimum number of hours of formal instruction for pre-reading children. Scenario is important to focus on the Learning Fun. The latter might be more along the lines the "push" that parents are trying to avoid. Knowing the difference between the two You Can set the stage for reading success.

Reading Media Theory (Paperback) $40.71 Reading Media Theory will assist you in developing close-reading and analytical skills, and is the only text that acts both as a reader and (crucially) a ‘how to read’ handbook for media theory.Core theory coverage and readings for media studies help to encourage the student to familiarise themselves with the material so that they are more fully prepared for critically evaluating it. Carefully constructed progressive pedagogical apparatus is used to educate the student, step-by step, in critical reading so that they can progressively improve upon their skills. Annotations regarding context, content, structure and writing style are used to enliven and apply the theory whilst making it more memorable for future reference. Opening chapters: ‘What is theory?’ and ‘What is reading?’ bring alive the importance of both as key parts of media scholarship. The text is split into four sections: Reading theory, Key thinkers and schools, Approaches, and Media Theory in context; this allows the student to develop their skills gradually whilst exploring theory and putting it into context Pre-reading: substantial Introductory sections set each text and its author in context and show the relevance of the reading to contemporary culture. Post-reading: Reflection sections summarise each reading`s key points and suggests further areas for the student to explore and think about, thus encouraging wider reading and independent study |

Explaining Individual Differences in Reading (Hardcover) $63.15 "Research into reading development and reading disabilities has been dominated by phonologically guided theories for several decades. In this volume, the authors of 11 chapters report on a wide array of current research topics, examining the scope, limits and implications of a phonological theory. The chapters are organized in four sections. The first concerns the nature of the relations between script and speech that make reading possible, considering how different theories of phonology may illuminate the implication of these relations for reading development and skill. The second set of chapters focuses on phonological factors in reading acquisition that pertain to early language development, effects of dialect, the role of instruction, and orthographiclearning. The third section identifies factors beyond the phonological that may influence success in learning to read by examining cognitive limitations that are sometimes co-morbid with reading disabilities, contrasting the profiles of specific languageimpairment and dyslexia, and considering the impact of particular languages and orthographies on language acquisition. Finally, in the fourth section, behavioral-genetic and neurological methods are used to further develop explanations of reading differences and early literacy development. The volume is an essential resource for researchers interested in the cognitive foundations of reading and literacy, language and communication disorders, or psycholinguistics; and those working in reading disabilities, learning disabilities, special education, and the teaching of reading"– Provided by publisher. |

Palm Reading for Beginners $10.82 Just imagine that you sit down at a bare table. You have no crystal balls, Tarot cards, runes, or any other tools. One by one, people come up to you and you amaze them with your knowledge of who they are ? their hopes, goals, and desires ? and your predictions for change in their lives. Sound amazing? You can do it with a little practice and Richard Webster`s Palm Reading for Beginners. Just as a bit of DNA can tell you volumes about a person, so, too, can looking at a person`s palms tell you about his or her past, present and future. Palm reading actually entails examining the entire hand. A good palmist will use the flexibility and the shape of the hand and fingers as well as the famous lines to interpret for a person. Such a palm reader will also look at everything from marks on the hand to skin color, and even if there is any hair on the back of the hand to give a reading. You can be that palmist. There are three things that really set this book apart. First, it has fifty clear illustrations that indicate all of the lines and shapes and where you`ll find them on the hand. Second, this book goes into timing, giving you the ability to determine when important events happened in the past and when they will happen in the future. And third, using actual examples, Webster shows you how to put all of the separate items of information together to give a fascinating, in-depth reading. If you have ever stared at your hand, wondering if those lines had any meaning, this book explains it all. If you have ever been amazed at the ability of a good palmist and wanted to be able to read palms, too, this book will get you started. And if you want to be able to add even more features to the readings you already give, this book is a must. |
